Our family has returned to Ses Bruixes time and again over the past decade, and each visit reaffirms what makes this hotel so special. We travel to multiple countries each year and it is hard to find the level of thoughtful hospitality and humble elegance that you can in this intimate, beautifully restored hotel in the heart of Mahón’s old town.

Every aspect of the experience is curated with intention. From the tiny “make a wish” soaps placed beside the sink, to the bath salts delicately scented with essential oils and placed into mini wooden bowls beside your bath, to the carefully hand cut cubes of fresh fruit served to you each morning—Ses Bruixes doesn’t simply offer comfort, it creates small moments for ponder and delight. Guests are made to feel like cherished members of an exclusive yet welcoming community who appreciate intention in even the smallest of gestures.

The location is ideal, nestled in a part of Mahón that showcases her harmonious mix of Spanish, French, and British architectural influences. The hotel building itself, designed in 1811 by Menorca’s first known architect, Don Francesc Femenías Fàbregues, is a heritage gem—and one of the town’s most charming historic landmarks.

Inside, the hotel has been lovingly restored, maintaining original features like hand-painted tile floors, while seamlessly incorporating modern touches, like their spa-like bathrooms with elegant, high-functioning fixtures. At Ses Bruixes, comfort is never compromised by character.

The hotel is home to 16 individually designed guest rooms, each with their own personality and all carrying the hotel’s signature aesthetic: understated, timeless, and refined. Some rooms offer rooftop terraces (Rooms 8 and 14), while Room 10 boasts a spacious private patio with plunge pool and a towering wall of aromatic star jasmine—perfect for unwinding in total privacy.

The hotel’s dramatic central staircase, adorned with original art, is a focal point. Dried flower arrangements and soft, tasteful décor give the common spaces a welcoming, lived-in elegance. You feel at home—but in a beautifully styled, historic manor house where every detail has been considered. Each member of the hotel staff is warm and attentive, always going the extra mile to make sure guests are not only content within the hotel, but also while exploring the island.

A highlight of any stay is the SPA Ses Bruixes, a serene, subterranean sanctuary that offers a spa experience unlike any other. Set beneath the historic hotel in a series of softly lit stone chambers, it feels both intimate and otherworldly—like stepping into a secret retreat carved from time itself. Candlelight flickers against ancient walls, warm stone arches create a cocoon of calm, and the atmosphere is hushed, restorative, and deeply grounding. Whether you come for a massage, a soak, or a few quiet moments in the steam room, everything here is designed to help you slow down, unwind, and reconnect. And then there’s breakfast, served in one of the most charming open-air courtyards on the island. Orange trees, lush greenery, and sunlight filter through as you enjoy fresh-squeezed juice, coffee made to order, eggs cooked your way, and Menorcan-style toasties.
